large looks great in both small and large dogs but its not suited for our toy tiny doggies! Any size will fit most size collars as the velcro is adjustable. 

large --> 5.75x5.75 inches ( with the tail )
small --> 5x4.75 inches (with the tail ) 

Hand wash preferably but delicate machine wash inside mesh bag is also acceptable!
